While many solo runners chase the euphoria of the runner’s high, something even more special can happen when groups of people get moving together.
This summer, we wanted to help create more of these moments, where runners can join in intentional morning sessions. So, through our Knead for Speed run clubs, we've been partnering with wellness groups across the UK to organise lively group runs.
These events were about much more than distance, pace and personal bests. Instead, our runners got to experience the energy of collective movement, make new friends and discover a new morning ritual.
To celebrate and reward their efforts, we gave each runner a morning bun at the finishing line: their local GAIL’s bakery.
In Richmond, our runners got to know each other as they enjoyed the stunning views around the borough’s famous park. When they arrived at our bakery, tucked away in the heart of the town centre, they found our freshly baked buns waiting for them.
Emily Jane Fairs, a runner and coach from London, loved how the event brought people together. “Everybody at the run club was so friendly, it was so easy to make friends,” she said. “We all got coffee after and exchanged details.”
Our new buns were created for moments exactly like this, with runners uniting in our bakeries for conversation, a sense of community and a shared moment of indulgence.
Whether people opted for our Chocolate Babka or a Sesame & Cardamom Bun, our GAIL’s run clubs encouraged a new morning ritual where community is baked into the rhythm of movement.
