And that rule applies just as much to our decaf as to our house blend.
As with our baking, we believe that our coffee should reflect our commitment to craft. From the beans we use and the blends we create to the creamy milk we source directly from Brades Farm in the Lune Valley and the way we train our baristas to steam and texturise the milk, there is a huge amount of craft that goes into every single cup.
Working closely with our friends at Union Hand-Roasted Coffee to create the best decaf, we have chosen to source from two communities who produce exceptional quality coffee: Chirinos in Peru and Maraba in Rwanda.
Union Hand-Roasted Coffee is committed to using natural processes to remove caffeine from green coffee to create this decaf. This chemical-free method uses only water and CO2. It keeps in all of the flavour and aroma that we associate with tasty coffee while retaining the wellness properties such as anti-oxidant rich phenols, all the while helping us to avoid caffeine.
The Rwandan lot adds a more fruity, floral complexity to the cup whilst the Chirinos lot adds a refreshing depth. We’ve evolved the roast profile to enhance the sweetness and finish whilst keeping the roast light enough to preserve all the delicious fruit characteristics. We firmly believe that decaf can and should be as good as any other coffee and this and this unique evolution is no exception.
